Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Director of Out-Patient Pharmacy to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the planning, design, operation, and improvement of the medication management system for out-patient pharmacy care. These responsibilities are fulfilled through personal actions, proper delegation to competent leaders and individuals on his or her staff, and collaborative efforts with other leaders. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients. Directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals and related substances and supplies. Participates in the departments planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education, and human resources activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Director of Out-Patient Pharmacy:

  1. 1. The Director of Out-Patient Pharmacy is the pharmacist in charge for all legal responsibilities and obligations to maintain pharmacy licensure with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and State Board of Pharmacy (BOP).
  2. Work cooperatively to plan, organize, and direct operations while ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Plan, design and implement pharmacy processes to provide efficient and effective systems for management of drug utilization including prescribing, dispensing, administering and monitoring of medications.

    4. Prepare department budget for personnel, operating expenses, and capital equipment. Responsible for fiscal operation of the department.

    5. Effectively monitor and control the purchasing and inventory management processes.

    6. Provide timely reporting and variance explanations as required.

    7. Establish a safe, efficient, organized, and orderly work environment.

    8. Communicate the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.

    9. Direct and participate in the development/revision, implementation and communication of policies, guidelines and standards for the Pharmacy Department in accordance with hospital's policies as well as federal and state regulations.

    10. Supervise and perform human resources management functions for the department including performance evaluations, education and competencies to attract, develop and retain staff.

    11. Ensure patient's pharmaceutical needs are effectively met by establishing staffing levels, policies, procedures, standards, competency and objectives for the provision of services throughout the system.

    12. Oversee the integration of pharmacy practice within the hospital system by coordinating resources to provide maximum level of services to patients.

    13. Plan, organize, and direct system pharmacy department efforts to monitor the quality of staff performance and the effectiveness of pharmacy programs.

    14. Work closely with the nursing, medical staff and other clinical department managers in addressing pharmacy department issues as they are related to the services provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from accredited School of Pharmacy. Current Pharmacist certification or licensure in the State of Idaho.

Experience: 5 or more years of experience in a pharmacy leadership role, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Skills: Strong leadership and managerial skills to lead and motivate a team of pharmacy professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patients, and administrative staff. Ability to analyze, prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
